A Masterpiece of Maki-e Artistry
Immerse yourself in the exquisite beauty of the Namiki Emperor Goldfish Fountain Pen, a testament to the unparalleled craftsmanship of Japanese Maki-e artistry. Meticulously crafted using the Shishiai-Togidashi-Taka Maki-e technique, this pen is a true collector's item and a writing instrument of exceptional elegance.
- Technique – Shishiai-Togidashi-Taka Maki-e: This highly complex technique combines multiple layers of urushi lacquer with gold and other precious powders. "Shishiai" refers to the layered application and carving, "Togidashi" to the polishing that reveals the design, and "Taka" to the raised, three-dimensional effect. The vibrant goldfish, depicted with remarkable realism, appear to swim across the pen's surface.
- Goldfish motif: The intricate goldfish design symbolizes prosperity, good fortune and longevity in Japanese culture. Each scale and fin is rendered with breathtaking precision, showcasing the artisan's mastery.
- Artisan – Seiki: This pen is the work of the esteemed Maki-e artisan Seiki, whose skill and dedication are evident in every detail.
- Nib – No. 50 (18K): The large and luxurious No. 50 18-karat gold nib provides an exceptionally smooth and responsive writing experience. Available in FM (fine-medium), M (medium) and B (broad).
Rare availability
Each Emperor is created by hand by a single Maki-e artist over many months, so only very few pieces reach the market each year. When ordered from the manufacturer, delivery times of 12 to 24 months are common. This pen is in stock and ready to ship – a rare opportunity for collectors who would rather not wait.
