Product Description

The iroshizuku ink is characterized by the highest ink quality. It is particularly soft writing, so that the fountain pen glides smoothly over the paper. In 1918, the first PILOT ink was developed by Ryosuke Namiki, one of the two founders of the brand. Since then, it has been our endeavor to constantly refine the PILOT ink and to offer with the iroshizuku ink a particularly high-quality ink that withstands any demands.

Not only the ink is exquisite, also its ink bottle is nobly processed. It convinces on the one hand with its elegant look and on the other hand with its characteristic functionality. The bottom of the bottle has a conical depression, so that the ink can be absorbed down to the last drop of ink by means of a converter. Versatile, high quality, functional and elegant at the same time - that's what iroshizuku stands for!

Details & Facts

About the brand

The Iroshizuku ink line is a premium offering from the renowned Japanese writing instrument manufacturer, Pilot Corporation. While Iroshizuku itself is a relatively newer sub-brand, its heritage is deeply rooted in Pilot's century-long history of innovation and craftsmanship.

The Iroshizuku ink series was launched in December 2007. The name "Iroshizuku" is a blend of two Japanese words: "Iro" (色彩), meaning "coloring" or "high standards and variation of colors," and "Shizuku" (雫), meaning "droplet" or "dew."

About the colors

Each color in the Iroshizuku collection is named after a specific natural phenomenon, plant, or landscape in Japan. This isn't just a naming convention; it's a deep inspiration for the hue itself.

This connection to nature gives each ink a unique character and often a beautiful depth not found in standard ink colors.

About the flacon

The bottles are made of heavy, clear glass, giving them a substantial and luxurious feel. Their classic, refined shape is timeless, designed to look beautiful on any desk or display shelf.

  • Wide Mouth: The opening of the bottle is wide enough to accommodate most fountain pen nibs, even larger ones, making the filling process easy and mess-free.
  • Unique Recess at the Bottom: This is perhaps the most distinctive and beloved feature. The bottom of the bottle has a small, conical recess in the center. As the ink level gets low, you can tilt the bottle to gather the remaining ink into this recess, making it much easier to fill your pen, even when the ink is nearly depleted. This thoughtful design minimizes wasted ink and frustration.
